Worship Devotional for 10/24/21
Psalm 104:1-4:
"My soul, praise Yahweh! Lord my God, You are very great; You are clothed with majesty and splendor. He wraps Himself in light as if it were a robe, spreading out the sky like a canopy, laying the beams of His palace on the waters above, making the clouds His chariot, walking on the wings of the wind, and making the winds His messengers, flames of fire His servants."
Psalm 135:1-7:
"Hallelujah! Praise the name of Yahweh. Give praise, you servants of Yahweh, in the courts of the house of our God. Praise Yahweh, for Yahweh is good; sing praise to His name, for it is delightful. For Yahweh has chosen Jacob for Himself, Israel as His treasured possession.
For I know that Yahweh is great; our Lord is greater than all gods. Yahweh does whatever He pleases in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all the depths. He causes the clouds to rise from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain and brings the wind from His storehouses."
Psalm 145:1-7:
"I exalt You, my God the King, and praise Your name forever and ever. I will praise You every day; I will honor Your name forever and ever.
Yahweh is great and is highly praised; His greatness is unsearchable. One generation will declare Your works to the next and will proclaim Your mighty acts. I will speak of Your splendor and glorious majesty and Your wonderful works. They will proclaim the power of Your awe-inspiring acts, and I will declare Your greatness. They will give a testimony of Your great goodness and will joyfully sing of Your righteousness."
How great is our God? We know that we cannot fully answer that question, since His greatness is unfathomable and eternal. There is no one greater than the one true and living God. We serve and worship Him alone, for He alone is worthy, and He has saved us through His Son, Jesus Christ, from our sins and from death and from the punishment we so deserve. As we seek to know God more, we must reflect on how great He is, and how small and insignificant we are. How amazing is it that the Creator of the universe and everything in it, the eternal One, the true and living God Almighty, would sacrifice Himself in love to save us, mere mortals who have all sinned and rebelled against Him who is holy? How great is our God, and how great is His love! Whatever your circumstances right now, remember that God is greater than anything you face, and that His love for you is greater than His wrath toward any wrong you've done. Just look to the cross and see the proof! God is great and is worthy of all our praise, so let's worship Him with all that we are as we gather together this week.
