Worship Devotional for 10/25/20
This week is about calling out to the One who saves and heals and redeems, the true and living God, who makes a way when there is no way and who is always faithful to keep His good promises. He is the God of revival, who alone is able to restore and to breathe new life into what is dead or dying. We are asking God to reawaken a fiery passion and love for Him deep in our hearts and souls as we believe and declare who He is and what He does. As we sing these songs, let us turn our eyes away from the distractions of the world and fix our gaze on Him who gives real hope, real life, and real joy. Let us believe that God will work miracles according to His will and for His glory. This may involve physical signs and wonders, but whether it does or not, we pray that we may witness the miracle of dead sinners being made alive through faith in Jesus Christ, and also the miraculous work of God to restore weak and weary hearts to new energy and passion for truth. We need for the Lord to move in our hearts and souls and minds and lives, that we may be awakened to do His will so that He may be glorified in everything we do. May He move us to repentance and faith and obedience, so that we may worship Him in spirit and in truth, according to His word and His will. This is the revival that I am praying for. I know I need to be awakened and revived daily to a fresh realization of truth and the gospel; otherwise, I begin to wander after worldly things that fail to satisfy and only leave me broken and wanting. Lord, restore my heart to Your truth and to Your word by Your Spirit and for Your glory. Bring me back from the things I've wandered after, and strengthen my heart to live in obedience to and love for You.
Ephesians 5:8-14:
"For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light — for the fruit of the light results in all goodness, righteousness, and truth — discerning what is pleasing to the Lord. Don't participate in the fruitless works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what is done by them in secret. Everything exposed by the light is made clear, for what makes everything clear is light. Therefore it is said: Get up, sleeper, and rise up from the dead, and the Messiah will shine on you."
Here are the songs:
If you feel weary or tired, like your light is burning out or your passion is fading and it's getting harder and harder to hold onto faith, don't give up! Press on and keep seeking God and running after His heart and His ways. Remember Isaiah 40:28-31:
"He gives strength to the weary and strengthens the powerless. Youths may faint and grow weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint."
Keep trusting in the Lord and in His timing. He knows what He is doing and He is still at work, even when things feel uncertain and difficult. He will set our hearts on fire for Him again so that we can live with passion for His glory. He will lead us through the darkness until all we see is His glorious light. Keep trusting and believing in His promises.
2) This Is A Move by Tasha Cobbs Leonard
We serve the same God as those who have gone before us. They believed and witnessed the Lord do many wonders and miracles. He is still at work and is still doing wonderful and powerful things today, even though we don't always see it. When we set our focus on His word and walk by faith and not by sight, we can begin to see the wonders God is doing right here and now, both in and around us. We often don't perceive these things because we become too distracted by the world. We need a move to break the distractions and turn our eyes and hearts back to the Lord. Only God can do this. As we pray for Him to move us to see His work and His wonders rather than the distractions of the world, let us be reminded that we are here on this earth for Him alone and for His glory. May our hearts be set completely on Him. God, come and do what You do! Move us to a place of obedience and love for You.
3) Way Maker by Osinachi Okoro
Even when we don't see it or feel it, God is at work among us. He doesn't stop being who He is. He is always faithful and holy and true. He is the One who makes a way, who works miracles, who fulfills all His promises, and who lights up the darkness. Let us declare who He is as we believe and worship Him because He is worthy of our praise.
2 Chronicles 7:13-14:
"If I close the sky so there is no rain, or if I command the grasshopper to consume the land, or if I send pestilence on My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land."
Matthew 19:26:
"But Jesus looked at them and said, 'With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'"
We serve the God of revival, whose light lights up even the darkest night, who made a way to bring us from death to life and has destroyed death forever, and with whom all things are possible. We pray that God would pour out revival on us, His people who are called by His name, as we turn to Him and pray and seek His face. May the light of the gospel light up this city with truth and love and righteousness. May we hunger and thirst for His righteousness and seek His kingdom above all else with hearts that are on fire for His word. May we see people saved and redeemed as they come to faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, even now in these last days. God, awaken us to do Your will.
1 Peter 4:7-8:
"Now the end of all things is near; therefore, be serious and disciplined for prayer. Above all, maintain an intense love for each other, since love covers a multitude of sins."
1 Peter 5:10-11:
"Now the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will personally restore, establish, strengthen, and support you after you have suffered a little. The dominion belongs to Him forever. Amen."
