1 John 4:9-10:

"God's love was revealed among us in this way: God sent His One and Only Son into the world so that we might live through Him. Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins."

 Romans 5:6-8:

"For while we were still helpless, at the appointed moment, Christ died for the ungodly. For rarely will someone die for a just person—though for a good person perhaps someone might even dare to die. But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us!"

Hello everyone! We've all known and heard it said many times that God loves us. But these are not empty words. He has definitively proven His steadfast love for us through the cross of His Son Jesus Christ. We were lost in the darkness of our own sinful ways, completely undeserving of kindness and mercy, and yet God loved us enough to send His Son to die in our place, so that God's justice would be satisfied and yet we would also be saved from the wrath we deserve. This week we are praising Him for His salvation and love as we sing, "hallelujah for the cross!"

Here are the songs:

  1) See His Love by Tom Lockley

When the struggles of this life cloud our vision so that it becomes difficult to see that God loves us, we can look to the cross to see His love on display. See Jesus dying there, finishing the work of God that guarantees salvation for those who believe, and defeating death once and for all by His resurrection thereafter. This is how we are convinced of God's love, no matter what circumstances may come our way (1 Jn 4:9-10).

  2) All I Have Is Christ by Jordan Kauflin

When we belonged to the world, we were lost in the darkness, having no real hope. Yet by His love, God made a way to redeem us from our emptiness and sin. Now we belong to Him. All we really have now is Christ. He is not only enough for us, but far more than anything we could ever need or desire. It may seem foolish to a world that doesn't know Him to give up everything else for this hope—but for us, we rejoice greatly! For we know that everything good and true and real and eternal is only found in Christ. Our life is in Him.

Colossians 3:1-4:

"So if you have been raised with the Messiah, seek what is above, where the Messiah is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on what is above, not on what is on the earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with the Messiah in God. When the Messiah, who is your life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory."

  3) My Worth Is Not In What I Own by Keith & Kristyn Getty

This beautifully written modern hymn is a reminder for us of where our identity is really found, which we often desperately need as we live in the midst of a culture that is obsessed with worldly possessions. Without even realizing it, we often get caught in the trap of finding our identity in the things we have on this earth, such as wealth, wisdom, knowledge, strength and fitness, our jobs, family, friends, reputation and fame, hobbies, etc. But we who are believers in Jesus must always remember that none of those things define our lives or give us worth. We find our true worth at the cross—in the price that Jesus paid with His blood for our redemption. Only in Him are our souls truly satisfied.

Galatians 6:14-15:

"But as for me, I will never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. The world has been crucified to me through the cross, and I to the world. For both circumcision and uncircumcision mean nothing; what matters instead is a new creation."

  4) Hallelujah For The Cross by Ross King & Todd Wright

To conclude, we have another song of praise to God for what Jesus accomplished at Calvary. Through is love-driven sacrifice, He won the final victory over death and set us free from the claims of sin and fear on our lives. We now have a hope that is eternally secure in Christ. Hallelujah!

Romans 5:1-5:

"Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have also obtained access through Him by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also rejoice in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance, endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope. This hope will not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us."
