Worship Devotional
Greetings, church family! This week's songs are about God's greatness and sovereignty, and the love He has for us. This month we are focusing a lot on the love of God, as well as His power and His mercy. Take some time to consider all the ways God has proven His love for us in all that He has provided us with, in all that He has brought us through, and in the cross and the message of the gospel.
Here are the songs for this week:
1) Great Are You Lord by All Sons And Daughters
God is greater than we can comprehend. He is worthy of all our praise. This song is a simple declaration of the greatness of God—the One who gave us breath and life. Let us praise Him with all our hearts.
2) He Will Hold Me Fast by Ada Habershon and Matthew Merker
This song is based on a hymn written by Ada Habershon in the late 1800s, put to music by modern worship leader Matthew Merker in 2013. There are times in life when we feel overwhelmed by the world or by the weight of our sins or weaknesses or failures, and we may fear that we will fall away. There is good news, though! When we "fear [our] faith will fail, Christ will hold [us] fast!" This salvation that we have in Christ is a gift of God's grace that depends on Him—His strength and power and love—and not on us. The strength to endure and hold onto our faith is also given to us by the grace of God. By His power and love, He will hold us fast through all of the trials we face, even when we feel like we can't hold on any longer.
3) Day After Day by Kristian Stanfill
We can rely on God's power and faithfulness and love every day for all our lives, because every day He is on the throne and in control. Men may try to rule, but God is sovereign forever. He is faithful, and He is worthy of praise and adoration.
4) Every Giant Will Fall by Rend Collective
Knowing that our God reigns in power and love, let us go forth in confidence to face whatever various things we have going on in our lives. There will be struggle and hardship, but we know that there is victory in the end because of the steadfast love of God. Nothing is impossible with God. Every giant in our lives will fall eventually, because the true and living God is on our side!
