Psalm 148:
"Hallelujah! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise Him in the heights. Praise Him all His angels; praise Him all His hosts. Praise Him, sun and moon; praise Him, all you shining stars. Praise Him, highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens. Let them praise the name of Yahweh, for He commanded, and they were created. He set them in position forever and ever; He gave an order that will never pass away.
Praise the Lord from the earth, all sea monsters and ocean depths, lightning and hail, snow and cloud, powerful wind that executes His command, mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, wild animals and all cattle, creatures that crawl and flying birds, kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all judges of the earth, young men as well as young women, old and young together. Let them praise the name of Yahweh, for His name alone is exalted. His majesty covers heaven and earth. He has raised up a horn for His people, resulting in praise to all His godly ones, to the Israelites, the people close to Him. Hallelujah!"
Romans 11:33-36:
"Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable His judgments and untraceable His ways! 'For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been His counselor? Or who has ever first given to Him, and has to be repaid?' For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen."
1 Timothy 1:17:
"Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen."
1 Timothy 6:15-16:
"He is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings, and the Lord of lords, the only One who has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light; no one has seen or can see Him, to Him be honor and eternal might. Amen."
The theme of our praise this week is simply stated, yet profound and all-encompassing: let everything that has breath praise the Lord. The conclusion to the entire collection of psalms in Scripture is a resounding call for every living thing to praise the Lord with all types of music and instruments for who He is and what He has done. The message is clear: our God is worthy of all praise and glory and honor, from us His people and from all the nations and from all of creation itself. Everything that exists is for His glory. He is worthy to be praised not only with our voices as we sing these songs together, but also with our whole lives as well as we live each day with the breath that He gave us. May our hearts and minds and souls and all that we are and all that we have — in all that we say and in all that we do and in all that we think and believe and imagine — be fully devoted to His glory forever.
Psalm 33:
"Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous ones; praise from the upright is beautiful. Praise the Lord with the lyre; make music to Him with a ten-stringed harp. Sing a new song to Him; play skillfully on the strings, with a joyful shout.
For the word of the Lord is right, and all His work is trustworthy. He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the Lord's unfailing love.
The heavens were made by the word of the Lord, and all the stars by the breath of His mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea into a heap; He puts the depths into storehouses. Let the whole earth tremble before the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it came into being; He commanded, and it came into existence.
The Lord frustrates the counsel of the nations; He thwarts the plans of the peoples. The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart from generation to generation. Happy is the nation whose God is Yahweh — the people He has chosen to be His own possession!
The Lord looks down from heaven; He observes everyone. He gazes on all the inhabitants of the earth from His dwelling place. He alone shapes their hearts; He considers all their works. A king is not saved by a large army; a warrior will not be delivered by great strength. The horse is a false hope for safety; it provides no escape by its great power.
Now the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him — those who depend on His faithful love to deliver them from death and to keep them alive in famine.
We wait for Yahweh; He is our help and shield. For our hearts rejoice in Him because we trust in His holy name. May Your faithful love rest on us, Yahweh, for we put our hope in You."
Psalm 150:
"Hallelujah! Praise God in His sanctuary. Praise Him in His mighty heavens. Praise Him for His powerful acts; praise Him for His abundant greatness.
Praise Him with trumpet blast; praise Him with harp and lyre. Praise Him with tambourine and dance; praise Him with flute and strings. Praise Him with resounding cymbals; praise Him with clashing cymbals.
Let everything that breathes praise the Lord. Hallelujah!"
